Heh, well said. Using AV is like praying, that the specific AV will catch all zero day threats, since the best AVs have about 60% detection of them.

An AV is just a tool. You might need it or you might not. Same applies to all security software. It's not like I broke a law or two just because I'm not using CIS anyway. =V

A lot of those who voted none simply voted that option because they don't use active AV and they use on demand AVs.

99% of the time I don't need AV it's that 1% that you need a AV for be it a on demand or a AV a active resident.

Not always. If you know how to avoid getting infected, it is extremely hard to get infected even with no realtime protection. For the most I stay virus free by using my own judgement, not becuase of any security software.

Is there no more purist around here? When I voted the "None" option I really meant I don't use an AV, be it real-time, on-demand, online scan, spinning daggers, rolling desk, dancing bananas, locomotive elevator, bunny costume, etcetera etcetera. There are a few special occasions when I did on-demand scans or running a real-time AV protection, but that is basically limited to testing purpose only.

Next poll really does need option for on demand av scan or something like that. Too many people click none option when they not suppose to.
