...and Avira, PLEASE change the name from "Luke Filewalker" to anything that actually sounds somewhat professional.

Believe it or not, but that is the ONLY reason why I do not use Antivir PE right now. I cannot trust my system with something that sounds like a joke.

Some systems have professional-sounding names but truly ARE a joke. Luke's name is tongue in cheek, but he really does a PRO job.

    P.S. My car's name is "Sarah.":D :) :D

i agree with both of you...

but simple things can cause loss of sales.

    a poor interface
    a poor range of settings
    even a poor logo
    poor scan speed
not enough updates, even if it gets the signatures needed

i could go on, but i think you understand what i mean by this.

all these simple things, or even just ONE of these could mean a user says no to that particular software, even if it does do the job.

I totally agree and thats why I dont like super antispyware because of the bad desktop icon that looks like its a icon for a rouge program even thou i know it isn't.

Says the person that uses AVG. That's a bit ironic, isn't it?

    eh?

some people, and yes its fact and lodore was kinda enough to agree with me,

i did not mean myself at all.

    and to add a note:

i like the avg UI (when in basic mode) , regular updates with a cool logo 'actually' and scan speed is average.

As for names I can think of a firewall that sounds like it should be used in the bathroom (starts with a C) but at the moment it is a very popular firewall amongst users.

People won't use a program because they don't like an icon or a name like Luke Filewalker?
I could care less about names or "cool icons" as long as the program in question works well!
After all, isn't that the most important issue?

You'd think, wouldn't you? I do find it odd though that AVG has none of these things going for them; interface, effectiveness, etc., yet people use it. Is it comes down to freeware, why not use Antivir. Avcomparatives says, as most people agree, that's it better in every area.

The name Luke Filewalker actually amused me for quite a while when i first used antivir. Its nice to see a bit of humour thrown in.

Well to each his own, I guess. A big part of selecting an AV is "look and feel." I should cast no stones because I dislike petty things about every AV that causes me not to use that respective product. I guess I opposite can be true too.

Ok now, who REALLY cares how they call that very specific window title?
If it was for me it could be Darth Wader Scanner, Yoda Master Scanner or AT-AT Scanner, i don't care as long as it does what it's suppose to do. And so far it's doing it beter than most of other AVs on market...

    O. K. friends...I can't resist.

I think the guys on the Grisoft website in the [detected] area are relatives of Java da hut...:D :D

Good grief who cares what they call the thing, if we get into the name game we could think of all kinds of names that sound silly. It is not important.

Avira could call their scanner Darth No-Invader, it still has a 99,69% overall detection rate according to the Aug/2006 AV-Comparatives test. Almost forgot, it also (along with only NAV) detected 10 of 10 polymorphic viruses. So, what's in a name?

I'm not sure why a name would mean much to anyone. But anyway, if someone does not like the name Luke Filewalker, they can always use Ashampoo AV which provides the same protection as AntiVir Premium and has no Luke Filewalker name whatsoever. :)

Minacross, I added an entry to our bug management system so that fixed linking to the German description page will be fixed. Thanks pointing out the bug!
