EMON is installed when you are using MS Outlook, and not Outlook Express.

can anyone comment on the likelihood that emon will be altered to run with more than just MS Outlook?

We use Eudora in-house, and many of our clients run email programs that are NOT your basic MS Outlook... the anti-phishing email protection etc would be of equal use to other email program users I think.

POP clients are scanned by IMON.

 

I was under the impression that emon MAPI scanning was somehow "enhanced" over imon scanning of POP3 connections - is that incorrect?

that explains what mapi is - I know that. What I was unclear on is whether the emon process performs the exact same checks as the imon process handles on POP3 clients, or whether it is somehow "different" - or "better" or - "more advanced" in how/what it detects - ie, is emon superior in the amount and scope of checking that occurs under imon with any other POP3 client, or is it simply the same, but necessarily different due to the way outlook works?
