I read the "hijacked by zestyfind" postings but realized that the same recommendations that worked for the other zesty hijackee might not work for me, because the logs are different. I've followed the recommended procedures (downloaded, scanned and fixed thru Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, SpyWareGuard) and zesty's still there.

Here's my log below. I will be so grateful to whoever helps me eradicate this pest!

    Hi yangkimb,

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WZDGJ] C:\WINDOWS\WZDGJ.exe

    O8 - Extra context menu item: RemindU - file://C:\Program Files\UpromiseRemindU\System\Temp\upromise_script0.htm

O9 - Extra button: RemindU (HKCU)

    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/23423eec9c4c9ffa1c21/netzip/RdxIE601.cab

    Then reboot and delete:
    C:\Program Files\UpromiseRemindU <= entire folder

Then copy&paste the bold into an Internet Explorer Address Bar.
    javascript:navigator.userAgent
Post the result that appears in the IE screen please.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Pieter,
Thanks for replying! Here's the result from the IE screen:
    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; {924F852B-E9DB-417B-9269-02997895B9F6}; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

What now? Zesty is still out there....

    Thanks again,
    Kim

Other reports seem to suggest that zestyfid is linked with Look2ME parasite and the same solution kills zestyfind

This is a copy and paste of a set of solutions that seem to have worked in other forums for this pest. I don't guarantee it and strongly warn to read the downloaded instructions with killbox before using it or attempting any steps to eradicate this pest

also to download and have easily available lspfix in case you lose internet connection while fixing it.
    Download LSPfix here: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

    search for a msg117.dll or msg118.dll or a msg119.dll in C:\windows\ or in c:\windows\system32\
    if there
    go to
http://download.broadbandmedic.com/ and got the "darn thing" off (mild for what I REALLY want to call this pest). Anyhow, here's what I did and IT WORKED - hooray!
    1. Copy Kill Box and Fixmsg117 to the infected pc's desktop
    2. Run Killbox and look for all msgxxx.dll files.
    3. Delete all files found except for msgina.dll and msgsvc.dll
    4. Go to Run>msconfig and select /Safeboot minimal under Boot.ini and then reboot pc.
    5. Run fixmsg117 (this will find the msg118 also). Click on fix registry 1st and then click on fix (for added measure I even clicked on fix registry again).
    6. Cross your fingers and then reboot. Run Killbox and Fixmsg117 one more time to make sure it's off. But you should notice the fast startup right off the bat.

but run fixmsg118 first before fixmsg117 with this pest http://members.shaw.ca/techcd/VB_Projects/Killmsg118.exe

as some of the files or folders you need to find or delete may be hidden do this:
Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files". Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    Derek and Pieter,

:D THANK YOU SO MUCH! :D ZestyFind seems to be gone. Look2Me is also gone, so that seems to support your indications that eliminating Look2Me also gets rid of Zesty Find.

I was a little freaked about losing my Internet connection, but once I got out of Safe Mode, the Internet connection resumed. In any event, the warning about the potential loss of Internet connection and downloading LSPFix was a good heads up.

Thanks for being the guardians of safe computing,
    Kim

Glad we could help Kim. :)

Derek did all the hard work. I just put him on the right track.

Thank the heavens for developers like Merijn and Option^Explicit for providing the tools to remove spyware with.

    Regards,

    Pieter
