Two major dark web marketplaces for buying illegal products shut down in the span of a month

Less than a month after the oldest and biggest dark web marketplace announced plans to shut down, another dark web market has "exit scammed" after the site's admins ran away with over $14.2 million in user funds.

With the Wall Street Market's exit scam, this now also means that the T•chka Market is now the only major player on the once crowded dark web market scene.
WSM ADMINS RUN AWAY WITH VENDORS' MONEY
The Wall Street Market (WSM) exit scam was set into motion last week when the site's admins started moving funds from the market's main Bitcoin wallets to another location [...] a new wallet that had no connection to the main WSM backend [...]
WSM admins claimed they did this as a temporary measure to deal with the buggy server.

However, WSM users didn't fall for these explanations and the constant delays and excuses in reconnecting the wallets storing everybody's funds to the market's backend, and accused WSM admins of "exit-scamming."

Wall Street Market seized by European Authorities
Seizure confirmed by NU.nl:

The marketplace Wall Street Market on the dark web has been taken over by European authorities. A spokesman for the European police organization Europol informed NU.nl on Thursday evening that it is currently unable to provide additional information, but that more information will be announced on Friday between 10 AM and 4 PM.

A spokesperson for the National Unit tells NU.nl on Thursday evening that the Dutch police have cooperated with the German authorities to take over the site. Details of how they proceeded are made clear on Friday afternoon.

German police, together with Europol and law enforcement agencies from the US, the Netherlands, and Romania, have seized the servers of a dark web marketplace known as the Wall Street Market, on which users sold illegal products such as drugs, weapons, user credentials, and hacking tools, ZDNet has learned.

In this midst of all of this, one of the site's moderators --named Med3l1n-- began blackmailing WSM vendors and buyers, asking for 0.05 Bitcoin (~$280), and threatening to disclose to law enforcement the details of WSM vendors and buyers who made the mistake of sharing various details in support requests in an unencrypted form.
It is unclear if these extortion attempts succeeded, but days later, Med3l1n published the IP address (located in the Netherlands) and login credentials for the WSM backend on Dread, a Reddit-like community for dark web users.

We were told that both German police and Europol are scheduled to make an official announcement tomorrow morning, with additional information about the takedown.

Two prolific dark web marketplaces have been taken down in simultaneous global operations, supported by Europol: the Wall Street Market and the Silkkitie (known as the Valhalla Marketplace)

Those responsible for the world’s second largest illegal online market in the dark web, Wall Street Market, were also arrested in Germany, and two of the highest-selling suppliers of narcotics were arrested in US.

Finnish authorities shut down Silkkitie earlier this year. When the same traders moved their activities to another illegal trade site on Tor, German authorities brought their illegal activities to an end
