I wondered if a freeware program was able to deliver on it's claim, so I visited "Anonymouse" and then went to check if an IP checker could detect my IP.

The IP address site gave me a different IP then before using the proxy and also stated:

"IP address flag IP address: in anonymous proxy"

So I could go anonymous (?) for free but the anonymous proxy is revealed ( at least with Anonymouse).

Is this the same for retail anonomisers?

Also I was not given the option to upload an image here on wilders. Other functions of site were also unfuctional ("Bold","underline" ect.).

Is this due to the use of anonymouse? I am also using SandboxIE.

("Free" means you get many pop-up advertisements, which are very annoying).

Anonymity doesn't necessarily mean privacy. Many of these free anonymizers will substitute your IP for their own so the website you are visiting can't know where you are coming from, but if the traffic is not encrypted anybody in between you and the website (like your ISP) will be able to see who you are and what you are doing.
