    Android is a modified form of Linux.

    With two differences: the root is hidden from the user and it doesn't have some of the libraries Linux does.

    Its still Unix and is the largest Unix distro in the world with over 2 billion users running smartphones and tablets on which its installed.

    I thought that it was some massive script thing, running on a Linux kernel.
