Not necessarily something new or unexpected, but a confirmation that this is actually happening.

 

Any recommendation for 3rd party dialer?

 

simple dialler for phone
simple contacts & simple calendar to a self hosted nextcloud instance
signal for sms/secure chat

 

If this chart is still accurate (it is one of the first hits in a Google search) then I wouldn't really worry about what Google is doing here:

I live somewhere else geographically. Mobile carriers also retain data here. For me it is different when data is duplicated and send to the other side of the globe.

 

You make a valid point. If the data were going to a different country I would be more concerned.

 

So this once again proofs that Android is spyware.
