[SOLVED] Digital Compass [built in hardware] is it needed for Google Maps or anything else? Or is the built in hardware GPS enough? Was looking at the Moto G Plus (4th Gen.). It does not have a hardware Digital Compass. There was some discussion both ways: Google Maps will work. Google Maps won't work. Without a hardware Digital Compass. Will a Compass APP from the Google Play Store along with the built in hardware GPS be a good enough replacement or not?
As you have learned elsewhere, it is not needed for Google apps. Note that cross-posting is not considered good forum etiquette and is often considered a form of spamming. It often ties up common volunteer resources, can cause conflicting advice and confusing results, and because it often leads to abandoned threads. So please make sure you go back and visit every site and forum you posted this question with a followup post, providing the solution so others seeking the same information finds it, and to avoid wasting helper's volunteer time.
I usually do that. And will again. From a Moto Moderator: "GPS shows location. It will do this on a map in offline mode if you download map data. It will also show you your movements and direction while moving. But if standing still without a compass, nothing will show if you facing north or south."
