    Hi all,

    are Android apps sandboxed?

I separated this question even though it kinda belongs to my other thread.
What I'm trying to find out is what could potentially happen if I'd download and install a malicious app - my phone does not have root access.

What's the harm than? I thought that the app cannot break out of its own space anyhow, and therefore not access / gather information, accounts, passwords etc from other apps which are separated in own spaces as well!?

    Thanks!

It depends which privileges you give the app.

    What if none?
Certainly not Device administration rights or others...

With some assumptions* damages limit to eavsdropping on clipboard and of course you can enter personal data manually into it. Those are probably the most dangerous ones.
Other are snooping on ads ID, IP address, network name, colleting data on when you are using device (lock/unlock), but this is what most commercial non-malware apps do commonly too...

*Upt to date OS, app does not contain 0-day escalation exploit
