I've noticed for three years now that a bill arrives in my mail about a month before its time to renew with the webspace provider. The bill pretends to be an annual renewal but is in fact an attempt to squeeze $40 from me for the purpose of submitting my site to search engines.

The scam comes from a company calling themselves ILSCORP.NET. I notice that this year they made it somewhat more clear it was a solicitation and not an actual bill, probably due to past troubles from authorities. The layout of the letter, however, is clearly intended to make it look like a bill. That it shows up each year just before the legitimate bill from my provider makes this all the more obvious.
