"An error occurred while starting firewall services"

Hello all,

I'm receiving this error messages on all Windows XP SP3 machines I'm installing Smart Security BE 4.x on.

"An error occurred while starting firewall services. The Personal firewall will not work."

After the install, clients are unable to get out to the internet with new connections. After a reboot, clients are able to get out to the internet, but it is REALLY slow. That's when the error message shows up in the ERAC. Also, this does not seem to happen on any of our Windows 7 computers, only XP SP3. Has anyone seen this?

What build specifically are you installing? Are there any event log entries in the Windows Application Event Log? What AV was installed previously?

Also could you try resetting TCP/IP per the instructions here, rebooting the computers and reinstalling ESS?
