Amazon has just purchased Whole Foods. This is an attempt to bolster the image of their online grocery shopping experience and their cashier free grocery shopping experiment. You need a smartphone to shop and pay for your bounty at the Amazon Go stores. You fill your grocery cart and leave the brick and mortar store without having to line up at a cashier station to pay. If you use either 'service', Amazon builds a profile on you based on what you buy. There is a price to pay for this - you will be targeted for ads for the brands you did not show an interest in as well as those you did, Ad nauseam.

If you utilize Amazon Echo and Alexa, along with using your Smartphone to automate you grocery purchases, consider yourself owned. Info collected is 'shared' with their partners. Other grocers will follow suit (and no doubt Walmart and its equivalents). We are no less than livestock - fed and bled.

And of course all this personal information will all help to build that profile on you - ads are just a means to an end. That endgame is absolute and total surveillance.
