    steep? vista basic and business seems similarly priced to their xp counterparts (home and pro).

    You're right fuser, except consider that most people get their OS on a new PC. With bargain computers at $350, the OS is practically given away. Or the other way around, whichever you want to look at it. I question whether retail boxes will keep their low prices with Vista pre-loaded. How it all comes out in the wash will be interesting to watch. I know upgrading won't be worth it to me for a long time. I hear many others say the same thing, especially in the enterprise market. I think between the comfort and reliability of XP and the allure of a bright Linux future, Microsoft will have a tough sell to the masses. Early adopters will love it. Most will ask, "who cares?" That's my guess anyway.
