    Hi

My router broke down so i will be without one for a while and using only a cable directly from the providers box. What is the best way to protect my net use without one? Comodo firewall?

I am the only user with 2 pc`s in a regular community housing. Several dwellers.

Can I suggest Windows Firewall ? It does a great job of blocking unwanted inbound connections. For outbound connections control, there are several alternative user interfaces for it. You can read about them in this forum.

do nothing and wait for the new device. windows firewall can detect if its public (direct connection) or private network (lan) and switch rules.

but thats reason why i have spare parts of any kind of device. even a simple modem has some basic protection against port scams.
