    Have run:

    Spybot S&D 8 times
Adware 6.0 about a dozen times
Pestcontrol (full version) about 15 times
CWshredder 3 times (i t found something first two times)
    Registry Mechanic 3 times
    Norton Antivrus (updated) 3 times

With the exception of CWshredder they all find new things each time. In fact, they seem to find more and more things. PestControl keeps finding this "HuntBar.BTin" thing which it can never really get rid of. Several items Norton uncovers it can't delete either such as a "may17 loader" which it tags as spyware.

    Here it is:

    Hi clavy2,

Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
These will now end up on your desktop.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kdx] C:\WINDOWS\kdx\KHost.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Meal rect] C:\PROGRA~1\FlawShim\Mp3 Memo.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [gB2ERVf9O] tsdv2clt.exe

    O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com (HKLM)
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com (HKLM)

    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/306c9d1...ip/RdxIE601.cab

    O16 - DPF: {F54C1137-5E34-4B95-95A5-BA56D4D8D743} (Secure Delivery) - http://www.gamespot.com/KDX/kdx.cab

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\FlawShim <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools <= entire folder

That should make it a lot easier to remove everything. ;)

    Regards,

    Pieter

Thanks so much for responding. I removed items as directed then rebooted in safe mode and deleted the folders you directed me to.

When I rebooted in normal mode, a pop up add appeared in a spontaneous browser window almost immediately. I ran spybot S&D and removed 5 DSO exploits then ran Adware and removed 4 items.

I ran IE and found it directed to "about: blank". more pop adds are appearing even now...

    Here is my new HJT:

Thanks for your help but I still have problems. When I boot up I almost immediately get one to two pop-up adds even though I haven't opened IE. They usually point to spyware or computer scan advertisements.

One goes to http://65.something.yyy.html or something like that.
    One to http://65.61.157.153/AdServer/MemTurbo/Adm/ad.htm

Others say "loading.." then "special offer for you..." in the title but a page never actually loads.

I ran norton in safe mode and deleted some files it suggested in the system32 folder (yikes) except for one called 6to4svc.dll which it can't find. I typed it into killbox and it seems to find it but says it is a microsoft product so I'm reluctant to kill it. Is it some sort of graphics conrtoller?

    Pestpatrol: Nothing

Adware 6.0: 2 tracking cookies, one from overture.

Spybot: DoubleClick, Avenue A Inc, and Advertising.com cookies in Mozilla. Also, 5 separate DSO exploits in HKEY_USERS which I keep erasing but keep coming back.

CWShredder: one registry item repeatedly bad.

Registry Mechanic: 20 probelms, most in HKEY stuff and deep registry.

Task manager: I typed every single active .exe into a search engine and verified their authenticity.

Are any adware instructions embedded in any of these antispyware products I've been using?

Looks like the popup ads are being directed through "look2me" and "zestyfind" both! I followed the removal tips provided on Norton's site for both of these. They still pop-up on IE and Mozilla too!

"Kill2me" program didn't actually find any evidence of Look2me and I didn't find the appropriate files to remove when I browsed my regedit folder yet "look2me" still appears as a portal window on some of the pop-up ads.

"Vx2Finder" found about six .dll files in my systems32 folder it associated with adware which I removed (yikes that makes me nervous).

I ran a DSO stopper program of some kind in an attempt to stop the DSO exploits that spybot continually picks up.

I followed instructions for removing Zestyfind involving "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" and the command "ren %system%\msg117.dll zestynav" but the file wasn't found.

I downloaded Spywareblaster and a "host" file of what I guess are naughty URLs that was posted in a thread on how not to get reinfected as well as making changes to my as directed to my IE security settings. I alread yhad 2 other host files in that folder one of which was tagged with .BHO. Aren't BHO files bad?

My last HJT log was read as clean by you folks but despite all my efforts the ads keep a comin! I'm at my wits end. Does anyone have anymore ideas?

    Hello,

You can check and have fix the 016 that you were talking about.

I am not seeing anything in your log, but let's try a couple of things:

First, I am not sure what version of CWShredder you are running. Here is the most current CWShredder to download:

    CWShredder

Next, let's make sure your Adaware has the correct settings:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

    - Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

    Press "Scan Now"

    - Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
    - Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
    - Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
    - Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

If it finds "bad" files and registry keys, press "Next" again
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

    Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Make sure you have checked for updates before scanning with all programs.

Let's also make sure you have the temp files cleaned out:

    Open My Computer
    2. Right click on your hard drive that you wish to clean (C drive, for example)
    3. In the context menu that opens, select properties
    4. Under the general tab you should select Disk Cleanup
    5. Windows will scan your drive which will take a few seconds/minutes
    6. A box will display the various files you can remove. Here are some safe examples:

    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin
    Temporary Files

    7. Click OK and windows will comply.

As far as Pest Patrol, I have heard from many that it gives false positives. Your decision on keeping it or not.

Let me know how things are and if need be, I shall find us an expert to give more advice.

Did everything you suggested, scanned with reconfigured Adware and it picked up a few things. I ran vx2finder again and killed some more files in safe mode. Believe it or not, no more pop ups!

    Thanks for everyone's help!
