    FIXED NOW :-=)

Be Advised: There has been a problem with Symantec Pulse Updates and Live Updates for NIS 2010 and NAV 2010. There have been NO VIRUS DEFINITION UPDATES for seven hours now.

Symantec has remained silent about the problem and Symantec "Customer Support" has been totally in the dark about it.

There is an active thread on the Norton customer forum about the issue.

    Hi :)

I just updated my post to say there is an active thread on the Norton forums about this.

Also, just have a look at your NIS Interface to see the time of the last update.

Here's a link to that thread in case anyone is interested.
This issue caught my eye, because Pulse Updates are touted as being delivered every 5-15 minutes. According to customers on the forum, this is not the first time that these Pulse Updates have not been received as advertised:
And what really caught my attention is comments from users like this:
    and
    and
    Here's a comment I find interesting:
I had no idea this sort of thing was still happening with Symantec.

So Norton made their customer believe that the Pulse thing is so important that if they don't have it...all the new malware of the day will end in their computers. Cool!:D

Guys just give Symantec some time to fix the issues and you'll have your pulse back...you greedy flatliners...:D

That's interesting.. Wondering if Canada has a separate Update server. My last update is 20/03/2010 2:21 AM.

This is why you should never totally rely upon a signature based product. Not to say they are not useful, but things happen. If your product has spent the time developing their heuristics and/or behavioral analysis enginse, missing updates becomes less of an issue.

Apparently all the customers who weren't getting Pulse Updates uninstalled and reinstalled and that fixed it. ;)

    TYVM, hawki!

I got steamed at my wife's laptop this morning when I noticed that, even after manually invoking Live Update, NIS10 would show last update as 8 hours ago. Then I had to move on to something more important, like a hike with my boys.

It's good to know I can refocus on this, that I'm not alone, and that I need to check my other machines too.

EDIT: all resolved on my machines without intervention. Thanks again for heads up.
