Hi, long story short, used to use sandboxie a lot, then stopped for a year or so after my computer crashed. Now I can barely remember how it works but a couple of days ago wanted to run a suspicious program so I got Sandboxie started, I think it was 5.33 version, but kept getting popups saying things are not working. I read on here that should replace it with 5.43.6, did so, but then other errors showed up, so did a reinstall (not just repair; e.g., even removed the old empty folder on my program folder), and used another version, 5.43.7. This time it "seems" to be working (meaning no errors) except I have no way of knowing cause no yellow border shows up. Like when I click the Sandboxie web browser shortcut on my desktop, takes about 5-6 seconds then my Chrome starts but it looks just like a regular Chrome browser (no yellow borders, etc). Or if I run my Avidemux portable app, same thing. I am not using my admin account, so I tried clicking the box saying "run as UAC administrator" and again no yellow borders or other signs of Avidemux. Btw I got WIndows 10, 64-bit, and usually use Chrome. Thanks for your help.
Hi Rayvd. Some programs won't show the colored border. For the border to appear, the program has to have the Window title/Title bar. No Title bar, means no colored border or pound # sign is displayed. I use Edge, not Chome. Personally, I don't use any indicator to tell me a program is running sandboxed (I just know is running sandboxed) but in Edge, the colored bar is very soft, easy to miss. Perhaps in Chrome, the bar doesn't show at all. Hopefully someone using Chrome can chip in some information about this. But go to Sandbox settings>Appearance to see how the colored bar or the SBIE indicator is set up. Thats where you go in old Sandboxie and in the Classic version, in Plus some things that were easy to find and understand have been moved or the Sandboxie linguistics have been changed (for no reason at all) so if you moved to Plus, look for settings that read sort of similar to the old Appearance settings. But regardless of how your appearance is set, if your program is running sandboxed, it is running sandboxed. You can always look inside Sandboxie control, there you ll see what programs are running sandboxed and in which sandbox they are running sandboxed. You can also take a look at the SBIE icon by the clock, if you see red dots, it means there is activity in at least one sandbox. Also, you can open the SBIE UI and go to File>Is Window sandboxed? There you drag the tool into Chrome or whatever program and it will tell you if it is sandboxed. Bo
FWIW ~ I run Chome with "hardware acceleration" & "running background" > Off. Try bumping mouse cursor at top of page. Or, uncheck "Display the border only when the mouse cursor is on the window title" > Apply - Classic UI Or, opt "Always show" > Apply - Plus UI IDK regarding "Avidemux portable". - 0.7.4 / 5.49.7
Hi, Working well in his last two reviews. Sandboxie Plus.... Work fine with Firefox Mozilla.... Will not work with Microsoft Edge. Also, no longer with Puffin Secure Browser.... hxxps: // www. youtube.com/watch?v=hX7mzcJDg4A
You can paste the normal link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX7mzcJDg4A just make sure it's delinked by putting it between plain tag, or else mods go mad, they are like bulls that see red
Now that I think about it, I also don't see the yellow border anymore, but perhaps I have disabled this feature in Sandboxie 5.45, I need to check it.
@Floyd 57 Thank you letting me know about the de-linked by putting it between plain tag..... Appreciated, I was not sure of what mods would accept.......
