From the same article: They don't want you to own anything. I'm buying all of the disks I can before they disappear.
https://www.howtogeek.com/sony-hasnt-stopped-making-blu-ray-discs/ This has been threatened for a while, and stocking up on blanks may not be a bad idea. I tend to pick my blank CDs and DVDs up at places like Goodwill, where they are far cheaper.
The option for built in drives [CD/Blu-ray] in desktops disappeared quite a few years ago because demand was minimal. Previously I always had 2 separate drives to make copying easier but with my last build I realised that I barely used them for quite some time. Nevertheless, I did acquire a USB 3.0 External Blu-Ray Combo Player DVD CD Burner Drive to be on the safe side.
hi strange because i have read they will release many new high rese cd audio e others dvd and blue ray in Japan with a new technology
I moved on from optical discmedia years ago and use HDD/SSDs instead. Even if I wouldn't I see that Verbatim it still manufacturing* blank discs, so I don't really understand the panic here *or just selling blanks manufactured by other companies
