I have the same exact symptom. CWShredder closes when it gets to CWS SmartSearch.
Also, it appears the name of the offending DLL has changed from msg121.cpy.dll to auledit.cpy.dll. I tried to delete it, but was "denied".

Hi I have split your post as it is impossible to help more than one person at a time in a single thread

please read here about your problem, at this time it isn't easily fixable but do this so we can see what else you have prohblems with

go to https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=12516 and download 'Hijack This!'.
make sure it is placed into it's own folder, not a temporary folder. Then doubleclick the Hijackthis.exe.
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

    Derek,

Using instructions at the link below, I was able to clear the latest Look2Me scumware off my PC. I am never using IE again. I have started using Mozilla FireFox and like it better anyway.

Hopefully changing browsers, plus running ZoneAlarm, Norton AV, and PestPatrol will be enough to keep this trask off my PC.

Thanks for performing a great public service. These guys at Look2Me ought to be in jail.

That's a clean log. Are you running XP Home or XP Pro?

    Pieter,

I am running WinXP Home. Is there anything else I can do to help you in this fight against the purveyors of spyware?

I ask because I see them as a real threat to the internet community, both public and commercial domains. As an experienced electrical engineer, I have some degree of knowledge that I can use to defend myself against these creatins with the help of forums like yours. How does the non-technical community defend themselves? Should we wait for Bill Gates to save us? I think not.

My computer performance was so poor when infected with this Look2Me spyware that I imagine the typical, non-technical user quickly gets very frustrated. If I were to start talking to my mother about deleting keys in the Windows registry, I might as well be speaking Latin...

Anyway, I seem to be personally through this experience. I'm just wondering if there is anything else that can be done to fight these selfish commerical companies/individuals that abuse the internet for commerical gains.

    Thanks,
    Cliff
