    I expect the only thing this will be successful for is driving users to alternatives.

    I agree. Most users will not accept that. Linux users are partcularly privacy-aware. That's why I'm sure that most core apps will not contain any ads (as the article rightfully says).

    Does KDE use Qt libraries as dependency? Yes. However KDE and Qt are distinct projects created by different developer groups. Author is conflating them wrongly.

    Until we see a move from KDE Project or distributions with KDE included and treated as first-class-citizen then these claims are unfounded clickbait and nothing more.

    Being able to serve ads and serving ads are two different things.
