I have read on another forum that, if you want to start using a standard user account in Windows 7, it is better to start over on a new standard account, rather than creating a new admin account and demoting your current admin account. If I remember correctly, it was something about tokens not being handled properly.

Is anyone aware of any reason such as this for starting over on a new standard user account?

I would post a link to the message only I can't find it.

It was surely the case with XP.

I don't know about Win7, but starting a new user account from scratch doesn't take so much longer, and it is definitely a good safe practice.

    Thanks Lucy.

I ask because when installing VirusTotal Uploader, it only installs for that particular account and the account must be an administrator.

I've set up 3 Win 7 machines where I demoted the admin account to standard user, have had no problems. Same thing on a Vista machine.
