Strangely, several versions of AG have been released in just a few days.
We are now at .76.

Perhaps the fast update has been activated, allowing filters to be updated more efficiently.

Interesting.
Today ver.79.
The icon changes shape; there is a small white arrow at the top that notifies you of updates.
You can perform updates directly from the extension icon in the bar.

So we are probably seeing the feature that was announced some time ago.

That's right, you have enabled the notification visible to the user that updates are available.

appears not...only noticed "Notify about extension updates" with Additional settings...after reading #284

I took that screenshot with that setting disabled.
I assume that incremental updates to subscribed filter lists are still notifiable.

 

Well, no notice for 5.2.112.81 (no up arrow).
With "Check for updates"... notice read "Updating extension and filters...".

Spoiler: Updating extension and filters...

Maybe, I called "Check for updates" before "updates" notice would have been sent?
