I found AdGuard DNS recently, seems blocking adware well .can someone test its malware site blocking capability
I've been using it for a few months. Works great. Even better when you harden Firefox with the following. Here are two tests: https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/src/adblock.html https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/ Firefox + AdGuard DNS + uBlock Origin + ClearURLs https://chrisx.xyz/blog/yet-another-firefox-hardening-guide/ https://www.fanboy.co.nz/filters.html uBlock Origin --> Filter lists √ AdGuard Tracking Protection √ AdGuard Annoyances √ AdGuard Social Media uBlock Origin --> In My Filters https://www.fanboy.co.nz/filters.html --> Add Anti-font tracking (blocks fonts.googleapis & gstatic) about:config beacon.enabled (false disables telemetry) reader.parse-on-load.enabled (false disables reader) media.gmp-widevinecdm.visible (false disables drm nag-flag) privacy.firstparty.isolate (true deprecates localcdn & decentraleyes) media.autoplay.blocking_policy (0 --> 2) media.gmp-widevinecdm.visible (false disables drm nag-flag) privacy.firstparty.isolate (true deprecates localcdn & decentraleyes) Enable DNS over HTTPS https://dns.adguard.com/dns-query √ https://doh.opendns.com/dns-query https://freedns.controld.com/p3
seriously? I am pretty sure we have malware specialist here onboard, but those are rare. visiting malware or malware infected pages for a regular user? not even close.
Try this safe site. It'll give you a reasonable idea of Adguard's capabilities. https://www.wicar.org/
Since this is a DNS service not easy to test as endpoint protections usually block the bad stuff. In family mode it does show a report where it shows site reputation based on WOT , Yandex amonst others.
Its a must on Apple mobile devices because mobile browsers apart from Safari can't install extensions, especially ad blocking extensions. The only way to block ads on them is to switch to an ad blocking DNS.
yeah, i know that. i use it on my mobile devices. i was referring to @NormanF 's post on blocking ads in browsers on ios.
You can’t install a “real” firewall on iOS, so a DNS solution (I prefer NextDNS) is rather useful. (there are some VPN-based firewalls)
Yup. The Adguard DNS makes web browsing enjoyable and secure. Ads are annoying, unpleasant and potentially dangerous. I don't want to see them when I browse the Internet.
Which browser do you use then? If it's only for browsing, using Safari, you could install a Content Blocker instead (AdGuard is offering one).
that about config is about firefox? AdGuard DNS or either DNS over HTTPS, you can't have both can you? AdGuard DNS seams to be unencrypted, and oriented towards ads and malware if you disable fonts are you able to watch movies without issues?
yes, it is. actually you can have them both. all dns services are unencrypted unless you use doh or dot. ag dns also has family profile that blocks adult content and provides safe search for major search engines.
Adguard DNS is available in Plain DNS over HTTPS DNS over TLS DNS over QUIC DNSCrypt https://adguard-dns.com/en/public-dns.html
It appears some are getting test invitations https://reddit.com/r/Adguard/comments/rr3bvx/today_i_received_a_test_invitation_from_adguard/
