    :rolleyes: don't know if this is the right forum to post this msg in but here goes:
    My WinXP Home pc has Ad-aware SE Personal Build 1.06r1 installed. (is this the latest version??). The last update I did successfully was on 8/07/05. Today I tried to install the latest update - it shows "Retrieving Update" and then the web update indicator counter shows 100% complete....but then this error msg comes up immediately after: "the downloaded definitions file could not be read, please update again".....then it shows a green check mark Finish. But the update last definition still shows the date 8/07/05 - which means that the latest definitions were not updated. How can I complete this latest update? Many thx for any and all help. :-*

    o_O Hammer: many thanks for your kind reply. I have checked out your link - seems like Adaware is having major problems then, with their updated definitions download? So I just have to keep trying to d/load the newest definitions and see if they get their problem fixed soon? Any news from AdAware about fixing this problem? Is my version (see my original msg) the latest one? if not - how do I obtain the latest version? Thanks again.

    HI Vickie.... yes, 1.06 [Build 1610] is latest.

    As to how to get the latest for future, simply go to the Lavasoft site, download the Personal one, uninstall the other [although it "may" be ok to install over top, but better to err on side of caution] then simply install new one.

    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

    Follow instructions :)

    As to the def download problems, well that happens occasionally for me also for varying reasons, site problems, server 'hop' problems [servers between you and Lavasoft] or anything else. I simply wait 3-4 days, and try again. :)

    Cheers, TAS

    Hi Vickie;

    You can manually download the definitions file from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/ or here's a direct download link for the zip file - http://download.lavasoft.de.edgesuite.net/public/defs.zip ... you just need to unzip the file to ... (this is if you have Ad-Aware installed in the default directory) C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal

    The latest definitions are: SE1R62 17.08.2005

    Steve

    Edit: Sorry TAS I guess we were responding at the same time, I didn't see your post before I submitted mine. ;)
