I can't find anything about what this is. I did see that the TAC (threat assessment chart) said it was "low", but no description other than a possible IE security problem. This is the part of the log from Ad-Aware:

    -----------
    Windows Object Recognized!
    Type : RegData
    Data :
    TAC Rating : 3
    Category : Vulnerability
Comment : Manual changing of browser start-page restricted
    Rootkey : HKEY_USERS
    Object : S-1-5-21-515967899-413027322-682003330-1008\software\policies\microsoft\internet explorer\control panel
    Value : Homepage
    Data :

    Registry Scan result:
    »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
    New critical objects: 1
    Objects found so far: 1
    ------------

    I've scanned with:

    CounterSpy -- nothing
    Spyware Blaster -- nothing
    Spyware Guard -- nothing
    Spybot S&D -- nothing
    A-squared -- nothing

    Also using:
    ZoneAlarm
    NAV
    SpywareBlaster
    IESpyAd
    BHO Demon

    Any thoughts about this?

    Thanks,

    Callie

That's just a warning that there is a restriction from making changes to the home page settings area of Internet Explorer. You've likely set this restriction with one of your Anti-Spy type apps; from what you've listed both Spyware Blaster and Spybot have this functionality. It's nothing to worry about, you can safely set Ad-Aware to ignore that finding. :)

Thanks, that does make sense and Yes, I probably did make that restriction myself. Too bad there wasn't more of an explanation but hey, that's what youse guys is for, right?

I have another strange one, but I'll post it with its own title.

    Thanks again.
