I wonder what other improvements it got. I really hope that they finally got the loading and updates time improved. It's insane how long it takes for Ad-aware to update and also to load.

I'll be waiting for Cnet's review. I can't use a virtual machine to test it on my own.

What they need to do is give the ability to not install the AV engine and just install the Lavasoft Anti-Spyware engines.

However if your machine can handle it (like most newer machines can) you get to use the power of the Sunbelt engine from Ad-Aware free.

What can Ad-Aware 9 do that Malwarebyte's 1.50 cannot? (sincere question)

It has a full AV engine, but A vs B is not allowed so it can not be discussed much more.

Can you install it without the guard?

    Edit (tested in virtual machine):
You can't.. Pain to disable everything in the background as well, not to mention bloat.

Received an email from Lavasoft on Dec 2

    Why a Version Update?
Other companies may hold their new technologies for the next year's major launch, but not Lavasoft - we're going to give them to our users as we develop them, so they benefit with a boost to their online protection now!

    New & Improved Detection Technologies
The new version of Ad-Aware is available in Free and Pro versions - both with anti-virus protection included. With this release, we have focused on our core consumer needs, thereby providing advanced threat protection with new, innovative detection technologies.

    Look likes a fair review.
Yet I don't feel I need that beside Avira Premium Security and MBAM Pro...

Does it has any good over MBAM Pro that I think I might need drop MBAM Pro to on-demand only and use Ad-Aware 9?

Those people who ran it, how rate it?

There haven't been a lot of test results for that engine.

Ok. Whatever turns your crank, but youtube is one of the last places I'd be looking for proof that anything is good.

Here is the Changelog from Version 9

    Software Update 9.0.0
    Released December 8, 2010

    New features:

    Significantly improved Proactive Detection
Ad-Aware 9.0 introduces Dedicated Detection, a new proactive detection technology that identifies malware on the instruction level and thereby creating incredibly effective signatures to detect entire families of malware.

    Improved GUI for Scanning
We have created a new design for the Scan functionality, which provides a better overview and easier navigation of the scan results.

    Winlogon Protection
We have added a layer of protection to the Winlogon, an essential Windows component that handles user profiles and screen locks. If this component is compromised by malware, the user will effectively be locked out of his own machine.

    Ad-Watch Registry
We have added Windows startup settings to the areas in that the Ad-Watch Registry module protects.

    TrackSweep Improvements
TrackSweep has been updated to add support for Google Chrome, as well as the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera.
