I ran Lavasoft Ad-Aware 2008 Pro (Trial) out of curiosity.
Everything was OK : installation, 36 updates which took awhile, after that a Full Scan, followed by an uninstall.

    Scan Results:

    Total objects scanned: 160089

    Objects ignored: 0

    Scan time: 00:16:41

    Total infections detected : 0

    False Positives : 1
Jesterware DVD Ripper Pro, which is not the first time. :)

I find it interesting how the 3rd screenshot on Lavasoft's page for AAW2008 shows nothing but cookie detections. In my experience that is what AAW excels in detecting which is one reason I abandoned it a few years ago. It would be nice if Lavasoft was able to improve the real world detection capabilities. In any event I may give it a spin on the next hosed system that I encounter to see how it compares to SAS and MBAM.

In my scanner-period, I had the same experience with Ad-Aware, nothing but MRU's and tracking cookies. If I ran my cookie cleaner first, Ad-Aware only detected MRU's. Now nothing anymore, because I remove any MRU during my boot-to-restore. :)

This is too boring anymore, i think i'll google for crack sites that say (this site might harm your computer) but i know the results already, EQS will snapped them up if i run it alone or AE will kill on-the-spot any executable if it runs alone.

I'm up for a serious challenge not cleaners, scanners, and cookie finders. They are old hat by now and will be in 2010 AFAIK.

Exactly, I couldn't agree more, the days of the simple malware are over, we need something much stronger in the future, than a scanner that removes easy malware.
