It seems that it still has no realtime file protection and the updates are crippled as before :doubt: There are better alternatives out there ...

    They now provide

    Processes Protection
    Registry Protection
    Network Protection

I think they should also provide File Protection as nowadays every free AV is almost offering the same features as their paid versions. Or instead of Network Protection they should provide File Protection.

    Yes better freeware are there.

I don't like how the UI looks like.

Ad-Aware 9.x had a pleasant UI, and one that I considered functional, but this new look seems like... I don't know... it's ugly compared to the previous one.

Don't you think the previous version UI looked better -http://www.softpedia.com/progScreenshots/Ad-Aware-2007-Screenshot-68528.html o_O

Yes it looks ugly than previous. They have added all the paid craps in greyed state.

And its still limited compared to other free AV's.

This company spams me almost everyday asking me to buy their paid version. So be careful if you get on their email list.

There are two main reasons (besides updates taking way too long, etc, etc) why I would never install Ad-Aware to anyone I know/recommend it:

    * The new Lavasoft owners are shady;
    * The new UI is simply way too messy for most people. The previous one was way easier to handle with, IMHO.

    :p

I like the colors etc, but it does look a bit too cluttered.

    I like new UI.
What is included in triple-core protection? Vipre and inhouse?

I recently tried Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security trial,
because it was sold at somewhere with very cheap price.(1PC - 3Yrs at 15EUR)

But it's definition update speed was unbelievably slow.
5KB per second download was not acceptable for me.
That speed should be a story of 1996 or so...

And in the mid way through the 80MB or so definition update (2 hours or so since the update started),
connection interrupted, the incomplete def file and my 2 hours of patience were gone.

And it seemed the trial restricted some features as well.
I really didn't understand why they couldn't offer full featured trial.

And my final complain is, they are spamming my mailbox like others mentioned...

They should preview themselves before mailing me about the Ad-Aware 10 Early Preview.

Installed. It is light & looking at GUI & settings seems the RealTime protection is full i.e no such things as livewatch but just RealTime Protection. And the good thing is autoupdate is also full i.e set to autoupdate & check every 1 hour by default.

But the RealTime protection is disabled here & cannot be enabled.

Fix all mentions cannot connect to Lavasoft server?

Any info? Anyone installed & can give info?

    How bizarre.

We were sent a press release, the v10 build and told not to put it live until midday 7th of February. We did, wrote the news piece above, yet it's not on Lavasoft's homepage?

I wonder if this program uses the same GFI drivers as UnThreat. It blue screens my PC on reboot. The difference between this and Untreat, is at least with UnThreat I was able to uninstall in safe mode. So far, I have been unable to uninstall Ad-aware, and am getting close to re-installing the OS.

Edit: That's really a major flaw of this program if it won't uninstall from safe mode. Can get into regular windows, and can't unistall, or even delete the files in safe mode. hmmmm
