I have Acronis TI 8 and have encountered a problem in trying to activate the Recovery Manager.

After I activate the RM, upon rebooting, instead of getting the F11 message to start the Acronis Recovery Manager, I got an MBR Error 3.

I can set up a small Secure Zone (I don't put my tib files there. I put them on my secondary hard drive) and reboot with no error message but the minute I try activating the RM I get the above error.

I am able to boot from a CD and get to Acronis that way, in the event that I need to restore, but I feel that the "Activate Recovery Manager" feature should work properly.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Hello CSW,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image (http://www.acronis.com/products/trueimage/).

Please accept our apologies for your inconvenience.

First of all, please note that using Acronis Startup Recovery Manager is absolutely the same as booting from Acronis bootable rescue CD.

In order to get rid of the "MBR Error 3" message please do the following:
    Windows 95/98/ME – boot from Startup Disk and run "fdisk /mbr" command;
Windows 2000/XP – boot from Installation Disc into Recovery Console and run "fixmbr" command.

Please make sure you use the latest build, which is available on our web site at http://www.acronis.com/support/updates/. To get access to updates you should register your software first at http://www.acronis.com/registration/. Please disable any download managers, internet download/connection boosters, etc. before the download.

If the problem with persists please contact support@acronis.com.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for your reply.

I am using build 774. Program is registered under email address (the email has been deleted in order to prevent spam).

I set up smallest secure zone possible (39 MB) and activated the recovery manager. Now I get neither F11 prompt nor MBR Error 3.

I suppose this is progress. What can I do to get the F11 prompt?

    Hello CSW,

Please run Acronis True Image and go to Tools -> Activate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. Then please reboot your computer and let me know the results.

    Thank you.

    Hello CSW,

This is the right time to contact support@acronis.com. Please provide us with the "report.txt" file:

Could you please download Acronis Report utility available at http://www.acronis.com/files/support/AcronisReport.exe and run it, create a report and send it to us? This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

    Thank you.
