    Hey there,

    I'm currently using the tezst version of above mentioned software and perhaps I'm gonna buy it, but before I'm wondering if there's a new version coming out soon? Is there a changelog already? Than I'll perhaps directly buy the new version!

    Thanks so far!

    The latest build was released last month.

    On average the next version comes out around September - November.

    I would guess that any new version is likely to coincide with the release time of W7 either just before or just after.

    On line backup according to a post by Acronis Support this week is supposed to be in the next version ATI 2010.

    But personally I think you would be mad to store your data on Acronis servers.
    Last month there was no access for at least 2 days just to download their latest builds.

    Imagine trying and failing to get access to your backed up data for 2 days!

    As to how secure the data would be I dont know.

    History says that a new ATI 2010 version will bring new bugs and the end to working features. For example when Acronis moved from ATI version 11 to ATI 2009 the feature to do Automatic Daily backups was removed. Now you have to write scripts to do this outside of Acronis.

    I think that would rather move to a rival product that move to ATI 2010. I have spent far too much time being an unpaid tester for this buggy product.

    The TOTAL lack of any evident quality control is just shocking. So far at least 5 build versions of ATI2009. If you went for ATI 2010, how many builds would you have to wait for to get one that worked?

    I guess is that you would need at least ATI 2010 build 4 before you could trust it.

    Huhu? I'm doing automatic daily backups just fine. No doubt, however, that quality control is almost non-existant at Acronis - I wonder why they spend time implementing new features when there are so many problems in the existing features. If everything worked as advertised, Acronis True Image Home would be a wonderful product. I'm just trying to stay away from as many automated features as possible, as I know I can't trust them, but as I wrote, no problems with daily backups.

    Thanks for the reply. I think I should have said FULL daily backups.

    Are your automated daily backups FULL backups or incrementals running without scripts to rename them. Is this something new in build 9796 that I have not found?

    Using automated incremental backups I agree can work. But I want the FULL daily backups that were possible in version 11.

    I have to use batch files to control the renaming of the backups and how many I keep. This last worked in version 11.
    I use this method because Acronis Support told me last month that this was the only way it could be done!

    See reply from Acronis Support below . I would delighted if you are right and Acronis Support is wrong. ;-)

    ~~~ private communications removed ~~~
    When the fix will come I dont know.
    oh..ho jehosophat, the last time I posted communication between me and support it was censored by the moderators here within 1/2 an hour. The argument was that it is personal communication and therefore forum rules prevent posting it.
    In my case I even suppressed the name of the support person, but it made no difference. Admittedly the communication I was reproducing was not showing support to it's best advantage so that may have been the motivation.
    Wonder how long your post will last...
    Hello all,
    You can find the information how to schedule daily full backups in this thread.
    Regarding moderation on the forum: please note that Acronis do not moderating or changing posts here. Posting personal correspondence/information is against Wilders Security Forums rules, so they're taking this action. It have nothing to do with your opinion about Acronis Support Team or content of the personal correspondence.
    Thank you,
    Thanks for the reply POT2PAN. I believe that I have not broken the rules yet, so I have not been censored on any of my over 400 postings.
    You must have been a bit naughty if you have. :)
    Acronis Programs and their Support Staff can be very frustrating but we are not in their shoes so we only see the user point of view.
    So basically Acronis have made promises that fixes are on the way for scheduling.
    I hope that they are in new build for ATI 2009 rather than in a new version which we will have to pay to upgrade to.
    Acronis Support took a while to resolve my query but in the end did a good job with example Scripts. I now have a usable system.
    In fact as it is now working for me (Build 9709) it is going to be very hard to get me to move to a new build or new version.
    If it aint broke dont fix it.
    In fact I had done exactly what you have done above (published communication between me and support). I did not think that it breached any rule, but then it was suppressed and I was told I had breached the rule that personal communication should not be published on this forum.
    I guessed then that this rule would be interpreted differently depending on the actual contents of the communication. I have just had confirmation of this guess.
    Hello all,
    To clarify the situation I would like to quote Wilders Security Forums Terms of Service agreement:
This is not only a forum policy, but legal action can be taken against you in accordance with appropriate law. This restricts the public posting of any private communications without the express permission of all parties involved in that communication, whether those be emails, instant message logs or any form of private messages."
    Thank you,
    Sadly, it appears to be so. Anyway, the reason an anonymous quote of info received from Support that does nothing more than purport to give infoirmation about an Acronis product, the reason that can't be posted, I cannot fathom, except that the info from that source is so often wrong and shouldn't be posted without a caveat re it's possible inaccuracy.
    Shieber you are correct yet again.
    Yes Acronis Support sometimes forget which software package they wrote and get things wrong and issue the wrong advice. We all have bad days.
    For Example Live Chat (No names to protect the guilty) told me that ATI 2009 could not do automated daily full backups. Funny that as I have now been doing this for over 3 months.
    No, this is not the case. It doesn't matter whether the communication posted reflects favorably or not on the original author. Private is private. The original author of a private communication could be anyone, not just a vendor response. So, we try to protect everyone's privacy by removing things that are not approved to be published by all parties involved.
    Why was this one not removed earlier? Simply put, we missed it. We don't always catch everything that shouldn't be posted. It's not magic. It takes one of us actually seeing the post, or a member using the "Report bad post" feature to inform us about it.
    In any case, the communication is now removed as it should have been. If you find other people posting private communications, rather than commenting in the thread about it, please report it and we'll address it.
    The thing that bugs me is that us users find a bug and then Acronis Support try to cover it up by continuing the discussion using Private Messages.
    This is a blatant form of censorship!
    Now that I have been censored by Acronis I feel this is a badge of honour.
    It wasn't Acronis. It's the forum's policy (as stated several times previously).
    Thats true MudCrab. Censored by the censors instead.:)
    So are we any closer to answering this thread?
    Is the best guess still Sept/Oct 2009 for the next version 2010?
    No sign of features yet like Disk Spanning or Backup to Tape
    Hello all,
    jehosophat, I'm not aware about the exact planned date of the release - there is a lot of development and testing should be done prior to it. The project (as you can see from thisannouncement) just hit the beta testing stage and I believe that this version will be modified a lot and new features will be added.
    Thank you,
    Michael Levchenko
