Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 eval - 128GB?

My WD 250GB data drive recently lost its partition info. I downloaded Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 eval in hopes that Acronis Recovery Expert could find and restore the partition table (I know I need to purchase to actually restore).

The system is running Win2000 with SP4. The BIOS, Windows, and the Western Digital diags all report the drive as 250GB, but Recovery Expert reports 128GB. When I run the quick recover, RE runs for quite a while, then the machine reboots without warning.

Is there an update for the eval? I just downloaded yesterday 12/05/04. Any other thoughts?

Is there an upgrade path from Partition Expert to Disk Director Suite?

    Thanks.

    Hello Jerry,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Director Suite (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/).

The problem you have described is very strange. Please contact support@acronis.com regarding this issue and send us Acronis Report file.

Please download Acronis Report utility available at http://www.acronis.com/files/support/AcronisReport.exe and run it, create a report and send it to us. This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

You can upgrade Acronis Partition Expert 2003 to Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/sales/upgrade/

    Thank you.

Re: Acronis Products with 128MB limit...

    Hi,

I'm seeing the same set of issues. On this system, the BIOS and my other tools see the correct value for disk size > 128GB, but Acronis Partition Expert is limited to 128GB.

Please see the attached report.txt file.

    Thanks!

I had the same issues. All i had to do to correct was install a file from Maxtor called: big_drive_enabler.exe. Im sure it can be downloaded off there site (MAXTOR).
It appears to work fine even if using a different manf. drive like W.D.

    Hello all,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis products (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/).

The program that spark refers to is a well-known DDO (Disk Drive Overlay) utility that allows hard disk drives with more than 128 Gb capacity to be used on old computers. This utility allows you to access more than 128 Gb even if the BIOS of your computer doesn't support such hard disk drives.

This issue has been definitely corrected in the latest build (292) of Acronis Partition Expert 2003 and is not present in Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0.

Please note that you can download the latest build of the product at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/. In order to get access to updates you should first register your copy of the product at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/registration/.

    Thank you.
