I was just fighting with this option.
As you might find somewhere in the manual, it seems to be not recomended to make a dvd for th epurpose you want it.
I think this might have some problems in starting it up or what. At least my manual suppield with the version 10 does not recomend doing dvd, it is however supposed to be done on CD.
OK it will be a bunch of CD but should work.
However I found problems in creating this set of CD. Apparently, but not confirmed by acronis yet, there might be a problem when having other burning software like NERO on your computer, then such backup breaks randomly on 2nd or 3rd CD.
This is concerning the backup done from the windows evirongment, where the options are alo present.
After uninstall of every trace of NERO on my computer, I managed to make such backup finaly.
Not a perfect solution I think.

I think is should be also possible to make a bootable CD from the BootCD environgment (linux) , in such case also the tib files will be from begining fully compatible with what is going to be used for later restore.

If it is version 10 you have, look under:
    Tools>Options>Default Backup Options>Media Components>Advanced Tab

Yep, buried deep deep down. May be the same for V. 11

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.
Right, you can reach the option to place Acronis Bootable Components on the media the backup will be saved to under Default backup options -> Media components. Selecting to "Place Acronis True Image Home (Full version) on media" you will be able to create bootable CDs/DVDs with Acronis True Image Home backup archives written to the same media. For the detailed information on Media Components please refer to Chapter 5.3.8 "Media components" of the Acronis True Image 11 Home User's Guide.

    Thank you,
