about:blank?

Hi, hope you guys can sort out my very annoying problem. The problems are thus:

1) Lots of pop ups
2) Start up page unchangeable, and says about:blank in the address bar
3)computer is running slow


I have Macafee 2004 and after installation internet couldn't open up new windows, have uninstalled it since. Can you help me to remove my viruses.

Hi dajshaw2000, and welcome to Wilders.

It sounds like a hijacker along with possibly the new variant of CoolWebSearch (about:blank) which would require special tools for removing.

I'm afraid we no longer do hijackthis log reviews/cleaning, but you can find expert help from one of the spyware cleaning forums listed here: http://a-sap.org/

Be sure and follow any instructions and cleaning steps the individual forums require before posting your log for assistance there.
