I have used the nod32 for two years and now in Eset NOD32 V3.
When I view the log of scanning,I see a malware is detected as
    "probably a variant of Win32/TrojanDownloader.Small.NTB trojan(NewHeur_PE)".

I have seen malware detected as a variant of virus by using general signature or NewHeur_PE virus by using advance heuristics, but I have never seen a definition combined them together.

Can anyone tell me what does that mean?

It seems that no one know the answer.

Sounds like a combination of heuristic detection and a generic signature. The point is to detect malware and the way it's accomplished doesn't matter.
