Is good to see they come up with such an app, but trust plays a major role. I think they should focus on trying to block data collection done by apps, sort of like a behavior blocker. Almost all mobile apps need a working network connection, so I'm not sure if a simple firewall will help. I'm also not to keen to use a VPN provided by an unknown company.
This is what Netguard already does on Android (mind the version from Github not the one from Play Store). I am wondering if apple is going to allow such app in their store.
Not quite. Netguard uses a local VPN whereas that article says: This means that you have to trust them that they are not reading/misusing your data. That's an important difference.
