Please be gentle with me! Please don't get too technical: I need step by step instructions in order to survive.

I have SpywareBlaster, Spybot and AdAware, and generally life has improved greatly since they came into my life. However, despite the fact that lop.com and all it's evil cousins are listed everywhere as undesirables, I still get their menu bars, their casino pop-ups, their icons on my desktop, their rubbish in my favourites. I also suspect that, in a fit of desperation, I have done something (more) stupid (than usual) yesterday. There is that "old system restore" option in SpywareBlaster, and something made me do it (I had had warnings that something was trying to alter something called "h_key" etc. "reg" something-or-other, and that didn't sound very nice), and then they asked me a question about changing the above "h_key" etc.s back to they way they were a few weeks ago, and I innocently said yes. But I think that maybe I shouldn't have (and don't say I shouldn't own a computer when I'm this stupid, because I already know that!), because maybe they had already been hijacked then. Anyway, since yesterday, life and my computer have been hell. Please help! Does anyone know where the evil is hiding inside my computer allowing it to attack and remain undetected? What can I do to solve the problem that doesn't involve reinstalling my whole life again?

There is nothing dumb about asking for help, I would suggest it is actually a smart person that asks for help when they are out of their depth… ;)

Can you download and run CWShredder available from here:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=14086

Can you also download and run Spybot Search and Destroy, update and run it, available here:

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

Thanks Blackspear! I did what you said and it was ok for a while (it shredded some stuff), and now it's all back. lop.com top menu and lop.com bottom menu, plus their pop-up ad for casinos just to cheer me up... :'( I have every kind of protection/killer you can imagine - Fort Knox is less protected than I am, and yet they lurk... Just for your info, I will list the protection I have: Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, AdAware SE Plus, NoAdware, Ad-Watch (always active). Plus, yesterday I installed the Windows XP update recommended by the Shredder people (I already had 1 so I downloaded 2, with pop-up protection and all). I must have done something terrible in a former life to be going through all this now!
