The hard drive on my old Thinkpad died so I'm shopping for a laptop. One ad reads, "8GB RAM (4GB INTEGRATED, 4GB IN THE SLOT)" Can someone please explain?
I understand. Thanks for the info. So it has a total of 8GB live, active, usable RAM, correct? But why does the ad see the need to disclose that nitty-gritty fact? If the ad merely said, "8GB RAM," & didn't mention that it has 4GB integrated & 4GB in the slot, why should omission of that fact bother anyone?
Yes one is soldered to the motherboard. The other one might be upgradable. I have seen one with 8GB soldered and the other one accepted a 16GB module max for a total of 24GB. Though you don't have dual channel benefits unless both are the same size afaik.
