7z encrypted archive in Xubuntu 15.10

    I have a problem creating 7z encrypted archives in Xubuntu. I tried either Thunar and Nemo, but the password field is always greyed out.
    Is encryption not supported?
    Unfortunately I could not find any help googling it.
    In Ubuntu is trivial...
    I would like to avoid to install 7zip/peazip etc, unless very necessary to do it.

    You cannot create 7zip archives without 7zip. Moreover, if you want encryption, just install p7zip-full. AFAIK, you can compress/extract any type of archive with it.

    sudo apt-get install p7zip-full
