If I were in your shoes, I would pick Outpost free. Why, cause they have great support and a active forum! :thumb:

Ahh it doesn't quite say that under systems requirements only vista and 64 bit.

I hope you are right and sometimes vista SW will work on W7.

If it were me and I wanted to know for sure I would image my setup and install the OP free 64 bit to see what happens but this isn't for everybody.

    Hi Escalader

you are right on the website OP, Agnitum does not mention nothing about compatibility with Windows 7, but I've found this thread with trick with 'compatibility mode' it was working on Beta version of W7.
To be clear - I've never tried this so I'm not 100% sure that it will work also for you.

Yes, sometimes vendors are less than clear about this stuff.

I don't need to test the free version as I have the paid version for 64 bit W7 but I was concerned for the original poster.

Just tried to install on Seven x86, it says "the product is not compatible with Windows 7". I suppose it's the same for x64 version, sorry :(

    hi wearetheborg,

I'm currently using the free firewall of ZoneAlarm (9.2) and it works fine with my real time scanner avast 5.0. It supposedly works ok with Avira and AVG too but not sure about other anti-virus apps. since as you know ZoneAlarm can have annoying compatibility issues sometimes! ;) Neil Rubenking of PC Mag has a review of it here if you'd like: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2364057,00.asp

Of course I wish it had a better notification if there is an exploit instead of going into the logs, but maybe they will incorporate that in a newer version. However, all the other suggestions are great too! :)

Btw, on the date I am responding to your original post, I saw another thread about PC Tools discontinuing their free firewall but I hope I'm not correct about this? :doubt:
