Have sent away for the cd.Will buy a new drive to set it up on.

Does it take much to get used to?

Just going from 98 to xp was a challenge but I wouldn't look back now.

Will Ubuntu do the same if I give it time?:)

Franklin, have you tried a live-CD on your system?, it's a good way to find out if your hardware is compatable with Ubuntu and to see if you like it or not.

you have to remember using a computer is not something that has been part of the human evolution process!! therefore everything that might come easy to you now with XP is a learned practice even though it might now have become second nature.

that is something some people don't think about when they try out Linux: you hear them say something like "Linux isn't ready for the desktop because XP does it this way" these people have used Windows all their lives and can't imagine there being more than one solution for the same problem.

all i can say is the more you use Ubuntu the better it gets. installing and configuring your setup after a fresh install is just about as difficult as it gets, it's ashame it's at a time when you know least and people do give up at that time.

i use Ubuntu every day and after the first week it started to become easier.

OK thanks for your explanation iceni60.

When I receive the cd I will let it run for a couple of months to get used to it and see how it goes.

Umm,looking at your avatar, any chance of private lessons.LOL:)

    Just kidding:)
