All the above updates accomplished last night, within an hour.

I then scanned by right clicking with all the above apps in turn, a folder containing multiple items of real malware. This also included some suspected malware and FP's.

The samples were downloaded directly by myself from the infected websites, mostly during the previous 7 days. Only a few are a little older.

Thanks for taking the time to run the test and post the results.
SAS didn't fare too well. :)

Unless I counted wrong it looks like both A2 and Avira scored 29 catches. :):thumb:

How much was not detected by Avira or a2? I'm curious what Prevx would have found. I'm also curious about the configuration settings on SAS prior to the scan. Default is weak.

    Just a couple of comments:

I think setting each program to perform a custom scan (where applicable) of the test folders may provide different results for some. The reason I say this is, AFAIK, MBAM's full detection capabilities (Heuristics etc.) are not employed when a scan is initiated from the context menu.

Also a2 seems to have scanned 1988 files while CounterSpy has scanned 1853.

I wonder how prevx would have done as well.

Yes nothing wrong with your math lol. a2's views were unexpanded in the screenshot, but it does list 29, which was the same for Avira.

I forgot about running Prevx as i had just disabled it from running, in services and elsewhere. I found it noisy in detecting too many FP's in legit running apps. These included Avira and ZoneAlarm etc.

Fortunately i already had it freshly updated. So with no internet connection to prevent any new updates from influencing the results, i re-enabled it rebooted and did a right click scan on the same samples.

It was going to be a pain to paste together the screenshots from the tiny display window in Prevx, which is not expandable for some reason ! So i pulled the detections out of the log instead. It required tidying up for improved clarity.

    Prevx results shown

If you or anyone else would like the samples used to test yourselves, then please PM me and i will upload them offsite.

I see what you're saying, but i'm not sure how much Heuristics etc would come into play when malware isn't running live. The numbers discrepancy could be the way one app looks at files/folders and what's in them etc, slightly differently to another !

Long story, but nothing dodgy lol !!! Thanks for asking.

    As above

forgot to upload pics, out of practice lol !
