Some months ago Qihoo was excluded from AVC and AV-Test. Now it has returned to AV-Test yet. In these tests Qihoo is really great. And in missed years it would have been great as well.

I heard that when 360 is online then it doesn't matter if you have these engines enabled. All these bases are in the cloud as well. I may be wrong though. I wish 360 connoisseurs would enlighten us here.

Didn't you know? Of course its inbuilt module Kagnukag! (Sorry I don't know how to write 嘎坤珏 in Latin alphabet) It disperses all threats (known and unknown) to 360 and even Qihoo. :thumb:

Well I think it is a personal opinion, I do not need the extra things that are in 360 TS, so I use 360 TSE. Others will prefer to use 360 TS. You could for instance first try out 360 TS for a week or two, and then remove it and tryout 360 TSE for a week or two. Then based on that experience you can decide hich version you personally prefer. :)

2 more questions: First: does this built in module Kagnukag exist inside 360 TS and inside 360 TSE and where exactly can I find it inside 360 TS and inside 360 TSE?

Second: And how exactly good this built in module Kagnukag is against all known and all unknown threats, zero-day malwares, exploits, viruses, keyloggers, PUPs, PUAs, browser attacks, memory based exploits and attacks and similar?

Was Kagnukag ever tested and how many times it was tested and and how good was Kagnukag in all tests?

I don't need extra things either, so it seems I will install and use 360 TSE.

I believe 360 TS gets updates more often than its essential counterpart. And you aren't require to use any of the extra features in TS, so going with 360 TS might be the better option.

    Oh, so many questions.

AFAIK he first appeared in Comodo then evolved with Qihoo at Wilders.

I'm sorry I don't know 360 so deeply. In this forum we have really knowledgeable person @GakunGak maybe he'll explain.

So 嘎坤珏 probably translates to GakunGak in latin alphabet (mirrored/written from left to right instead of right to left).

    @GakunGak

Are you an official from 360 or Qihoo?

    Thanks

You certainly do not need those extras from 360 TS, those are optional to use. BUT ... why install TS if you do not need/use the extras? As for the program updates ... well yeah the 360 TS software gets updates before TSE. ( BUT the Avira and Bitdefender engines are updated equally in TS and TSE. ) but sooner or later TSE gets updated as well.

The reason TS gets updated sooner is because they see it as their number one. Because of all the extras in TS they need more time to implement those extras and have people test them. Once the new TS version is is stable so to speak, they normally release a new TSE version. ( Which is why it takes longer for TSE, at least this is how I see it. )

    Thanks for clarification.

AFAIK Gakungak hasn't any official position or even relation to Qihoo. He's just an active goodwill volunteer helper.

Since TSE is a stripped down TS, it is less prone to anomalies and issues. That is not to say they do not exist, just not that frequent. Internal test and user feedback [which is very important to include all details if possible] makes it less complicated to hunt down bugs.
TSE is as equal as possible in updates, but because it is simpler [not as many bells & whistles as it's huge brother] there is no need to update something that does not exist [fixing patch, registry, cleanup, optimization, etc...].
With TSE you are equally protected as with TS. Most of the stuff is done via cloud [except for special disinfection techniques which in exceptional cases needs to be available locally]. :)

    GakunGak,

Is there any protection/detection or Qihoo engine or QVM engine difference between TS & TSE?
2 users on malwaretips reported difference in detection i.e 1 user scanned the system with TS...it didn't found anything. Then he scanned with TSE...it detected 7 FPs. Both TS & TSE had Avira/Bd disabled. And other user reported he scanned 1 file with TS...it didn't detected it. Then he scanned the file with TSE...it detected it i.e FPs. These are little old posts on malwaretips.

How is FPs with TS/TSE nowadays? Any improvements or mechanism implemented to reduce FPs?

Would anyone recommend 360 ts over avira free?

There is one more question that I think everyone knows the answer and which I also find very important: how much ram memory and harddisk memory 360 consumes? I don't know why I can't find this info....
Other users you can help me with this.

1: No. Both engines work in-house, and both TS and TSE connect to it the very same way.
2: This shouldn't happen. I'd like to take a look at these posts myself.
Do keep in mind that not every file is known to anyone, and for some files, they need to be analysed by Qihoo AI. That's where the upload/analysis thing comes after first scan. Once a verdict has chosen, for example malicious, it's signature is created for
that particular malware, and possible variants/variations in case a new code with similar instructions comes along. That stuff is done automatically to a huge number of files. There are exceptional cases
where an analyst has to take a peek inside if possible, and determine by himself if something is harmful or not.
False positives do happen, and will continue to happen, because that is in their nature, to be similar to malware in code or execution, even though they are not.

3: It is being worked on continuously, but comparing the past and the present, definitelly an improvement. It has been made easier to trust files you know are safe.
Still, user feedback and reporting is, believe it or not, a backbone of a good quality product.

I'd recommend trying them both and see what you're most comfortable with using. Then get familiar with the program, know it's features and options and keep it updated.
Every person should choose for himself :)

This is my system on Balanced, Total Security, at the moment of this writing. Do you need more information?

EDIT: QHActiveDefense.exe might spike in HDD activity from time to time if it does heavy duty analysis of the system under heavy load, when something is going on, it keeps a close watch on what's going on so it can alert the user in time. Just wait it out, it will pass :) It shouldn't take long [no more than 5 minutes in extreme cases]...
EDIT2: look for last 4 entries, the first ones are Qihoo browser I'm using....

Is your system fast or slow in short?
Also, I'd rather like to use 360 TSE than 360 TS, because I have Advanced Systemcare on my computer for everything that it needs to be done for registry, cookies and other forms of cleaning, will I lose anything if I install and use 360 TSE, and not use 360 TS?

I have one question regarding configuration of 360TSE and 360 TS: for example when I configure protection, it says that it has 2 engines both avira and bitdefender which you can both uninstall.
However, my problem here is what it says: for example for bitdefender it says the following: real time scan enabled and manual scan enabled, but for avira it says real time scan disabled, while manual scan is enabled.
Is there anyway that I can enable for avira real time scan?

Click Protection ON Shield in top left hand corner. In Custom ensure Avira is checked.

What are people running alongside TS360? Any need for the free MBAE?

To be honest I'm scared of using anything with total package, if I could chose I'd definitely choose Hitman Pro.Alert anti-exploit.
I already have free scanners without real time protections like Hitman Pro (paid, Hitman Pro is not for real time protection since it has not real time protection at all, it only has scanning, you cannot delete any infection unless you have paid version of Hitman Pro)) Zemana Antimalware free and Malwarebytes Antimalware free-that all works with both 360 TS and 360 TSE, since neither of these scanners have real time protections so there are no conflicts at all.
