hi ok hope this don't sound confusing but is best way I understand it for now. I was once told if you have 2 routers not to have both set as a dchp server that can only have one. by enabling dhcp in both routers does that make the second router wich only has one computer connected does that make it less secure? or does it even make a difference?
you can bind (a regular) windows (with only one LAN port) only to one router, not both*. so you have to define the second as a client from first to create a another network group. dhcp only to the router which is directly connected to clients, the second has to be static. to raise security two routers in line? not really, thats more like alu helmets, waste of time. * ip-table for static routes, not recommended for regular users, only networking.
You cant have 2 devices handing out DHCP unless they are on separate VLAN's. If you do you will have network connectivity issues for every device.
