hi, i'm having this problem trying to install nod32. i've downloaded the free version to try it out, but i keep getting:

    (106) error extracting files

i've downloaded the file from various sites, but always the same result.

i've been looking for help online, but can't seem to find the right answers anywhere, and i'm new to this site, and i've tried searching this error here, but i also haven't found it.

    could someone please help?
    thanks before hand.
    Raúl.

    Hi rvalsera, welcome to Wilders.

This error is localized to your particular machine, it occurs under the following circumstances:

    - An attempt is made to extract the archive installer file and it is found be corrupt.
    - Insufficient RAM
    - Insufficient disk space
    - Defective RAM modules

    1. Please try downloading a fresh copy of NOD32.
    2. Check your systems RAM.

Please check that the following files exist:

    C Drive> Windows> Temp

    C Drive> Documents and Settings> (User Name) XXXXXX> Local Settings> Temp

Do the "Temp and TMP" folders exist in "Environmental Variables" when you right click on My Computer as per the screenshots found in this link? https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=764434#post764434

When you then navigate to the folders mentioned in "Environmental Variables" are they actually there?

Sometimes the only method is to delete and reinstall the Temp folders.

You can also try running this file http://www.nod32.it/getfile.php?tool=settmp it will set both the user and system TEMP/TMP variables to c:\windows\temp. Just make sure the folder exists.

    Cheers :D

hi blackspear. sorry for not responding earlier... i wasn't able to get back.

thanks for the response, but none of them worked :'( i searched the temp folders and the temp variables; they all exist. i also deleted and reinstalled the temp folder, and the variabes but still no positive results.

i've used everest ultimate edition to check my computer components, and everything seems to be ok. i've run checks on ram; no problems. i've checked free ram memory; over 50%. i've checked disk space; heaps.

i don't know what else to do. could it be posible that some sort of virus prevents me from installing nod32? i dunno, it's just a wild guess.... i can't seem to figure what could be happenning.

btw, i didn't mention, my OS is windows xp sp2....

    once again blackspear, thanx!
