I wonder if Javacool could provide a seachable/updatable text with all information available for activeX controls..
I know we can do it through spywareBlaster,, but thats extremly slow,, Not the program ,, me searching that way.

Or is there already such a thing for anti spyware helpers (newbe here)
    Thanks
    Lonny

    Hi Lonny,

The Find function in SpywareBlaster is the only reliable source I know off.

The list at Sysinfo does have an option to add ActiveX elements besides the BHO's and Toolbars, that are already listed.
If you ever feel like making a start, drop me or Tony a PM. :D

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi Lonny,

Yes, I remember seeing you in the classroom. ;)

What I ment is, that list can be expanded to include the O16's as well. But there are so many of them (just look at how big SpywareBlasters database is), it will require an enormous effort and a lot of time to collect them and add them to the Sysinfo site.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi Lonny,

Anyone willing to make a good start on that list is very welcome.
The option is not hidden, you just can't see it because no O16's have been added so far.

One would hope that there are at least as many good ActiveX elements as bad ones. So that would mean there are thousands.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Hi Lonny, i was just asking the very same thing in class. There's got to be an easier way to search those ActiveX's than right-clicking in SpywareBlaster's database (or...barring down the hatches and clicking on an ActiveX link <--not really recommended).

    Pieter...
Might be a good class project, ahy? :D

    Happy Holidays guys!

Hi nice to see you here

Yep somebody not me could very, easyly easaly >easily< aw
search SpywareBlaster and figure out which is which ,,separate
all 016's and da da add to it then would be easy when an update is offered..
    any-who >
I always wondered why we never see anyone recommend
after a cleanup going IE options content > publishers
and removing all but o say Microsoft's
I now I have in the not to distant past agreed to always trust
Must not be to big a deal because I don't see the pro's recommending this.. except winhelp 2002..

I'm not even certain if our anti spyware programs look for them ,, I think not,, On another note I'm not sure what the future holds in store with active X when MS updates at the beginning of the year for most and later for the rest of us,, within the first several months

Still, I like the idea of a class project. But how about teacher?

Do you think you can persuade cnm to supervise? :-*

    No no no.

You wouldn't want to go doing that.

You see, I have been preparing a special holiday present for all hijack-this helpers. *hint hint*
I don't think there's a need to spend time on such a thing, yourself. *hint hint*
I think the present will be exactly what you are looking for. *wink wink*

    :D

    Best regards,
