Any one with experience with this antivirus product ?

Run a search, plenty of information about the AV.

 

Im not asking about the features, i'm just seeing if anyone as used this product and can tell me if it is worth trialing/buying.

And also what are the pros/cons of this product.

I trialed it for a while. It seemed as if it wasn't quite finished to me. The firewall did not impress me at all, but really it will probably evolve to a decent program but at this point I personally couldn't recomend it as there are quite a few better products out there.But this could change in the future

I think the av was alright, but I have quit recomending any single av product. The best way to possibly find one that works well for you is to browse the av threads here and trial a few of the av's. I am sure that you will find one that works well for you. And don't fall into the av test site result paranoia, if an av runs well for you and has decent detection in the test's you will be just fine running it along with a decent AT and antispyware and the other security apps that are recomended the most here.

I used it for almost a year and really like it. It had a lot of FP's but the support was very quick to correct them. It is still a little rough around the edges but I think it has a lot of potential. One thing I was not too excited about was the fact it seemed to be trying to become an all in one app (firwall, regmon and tentative plans to add more features. But overall I thought it to be a very good AV with good detection rates. Very lite on resources, not as lite as DrWeb or NOD32 but close.
I switched AV's but will continue to keep an eye on it.

 

ArcaVir....hehe, I used to send Mariusz Sasinski a suggestion list every week, as well as vulnerability alerts and bug reports. After he disappeared from the scene for a while, I quit ArcaVir, and purchased NOD32.

Regardless, I liked each and every feature it had to offer - at USD 29, its a steal!

Anyhow, I will keep an eye on it.

Detection wise, it is quite good at detecting Trojans, but it could improve a bit for script viruses.......

 

ArcaVir failed on the last 2 Virus Bulletin tests on Windows...

 

Who cares about VB100%, really...

 

The AVs companies, and is a more one way to evaluate AV's...
Couldn't be the best, but counts...

 

I agree with bigc regarding the firewall.It has room for improvement.
The registry monitor was a nice addition.

 

Do you still remember if the detection is good at worms,viruses?

Does it use hueristics?

Is the reg monitor stand alone when you turn off the AV/Firewall ?

I give VB a fair amount of credibility along with ICSA and Checkmark. And I think AV-comparatives is doing a good job also. If it wasn't for places like these what would you do to get an idea as to how well an av program worked (A Crystal Ball). These sites do perform a needed service.

Yes you can turn on/off any module you do not want and yes it has heuristics and they can be set to different levels from off to very high.

The overall detection rates were good to very good and it seemed to have caught everything for me. I had a KAV engined b/u and it never caught anything that Arcavir missed.

Is there a site that shows its detection rate of unknown virus etc, with it using hueristics?

Do their very high hueristics cause false-positives when scanning with them?

What is the problem?

They are from the same building, but that doesn't mean nothing...

 

As I stated above there are still occassional FP's with very high heuristics set, but the support team is very quick to correct them.
Heuristics wise it does not match NOD32 but I would rate as average to above average.

Heuristics of ArcaVir have caught 2 trojans for me, but it seems not to be too good for viruses.

Overall detection is great, just script virus detection should improve a bit.

 

No problem as long as it has been established that Sophos does not own them. As indicated in the link to the thread to Avast forum would seem to indicate.

 

So it looks like that ArcaBit is a good trojan detector/remover.
