    Hi clive_60,

I just heard about this program from Notok:
    http://www.recovermyfiles.com/
They have a free download that you can try out and preview files that are recoverable. It won't actually recover the files until you buy it, but at least you can see if it works before you cough up the dough.
I tried it and it seems to work pretty well.
After wiping a test text file with Eraser 5.7 (35 pass Gutman), RecoverMyFiles was unable to recover it.
Another recovery program is GRC.com SpinRite. It's a nice program, but it doesn't work with RAID arrays.
Just formatting will not sufficiently hide old data.
