Hmm supposed to be good practice right?

It's curious, my observation is that many people who run linux and would never dream of running as root, happily run as administrator on Windows XP, 2K.

I wonder why. It's certainly isn't because of ignorance. I asked one of them why, and they said Windows XP ,2K isn't really built to run without administrator rights, since it was very inconvenient as almost everything needed admin right.

I don't know enough of linux to argue, but what do you guys think?

    Admin?
Only when needed in case of a hardware change.
In some cases only by SU or Run as in Windows.

  4. No way Jose. Running as Admin on a *nix system is stupid... if an account gets screwed up, you really do not want it to be the root account.

(Not sure how much of a difference it makes on an NT system though, since Windows virii are so common and spread so easily... Still seems unsafe though.)
