SG & Firefox: should download & browser hijack protection be turned off?

Hi All,

Spywareguard 2.2 Download and Browser Hijack Protection only works with IE. Since I am only using Firefox 0.9.2 (except for Windows Updates), should I disable (uncheck) the Download and Browser Hijack Protection?

Also, is this because Firefox does not need Download and Browser Hijack Protection or is it something that will be added in the future?

 

Unless I am mistaken the download protection workes on downloads from any browser, I am sure someone else will give you some more info on this.

 

AFAIK the download protection is IE specific only, implemented via a BHO.

The real time scanning engine works for everything.

The memory usage between enabling Download and Browser Hijack Protection and leaving it off seems negligible so it's not a performance issue. Since I'm only using Firefox, I'll leave them off so I don't have a false sense of security later on.

Do you think that download and browser hijack protection is unnecessary in Firefox (due to it's more secure nature)?
Or is it something javacool will maybe add to SG in the future?
If these 2 features (Download Protection and Browser Hijack Protection) will be added in the future to SG, can you recommend something that currently offers these features?

I currently have Spybot S&D with TeaTimer, Ad Aware, SpywareBlaster 3.2, and SpywareGuard 2.2.

 

You have a good start on defence to keep the nasties out how about process guard and regprot.
